The world's most sustainable offices

In the last decade, the definition of an office has changed. These physical workspaces require other features, technologies and facilities to better fulfill their functionality.

The world's most sustainable offices

In this sense, an increasing number of companies are opting for buildings constructed with sustainability criteria. And not only because of aesthetics or budgets, but also because of the preferences of their employees, especially the younger ones. We have analyzed some of the most sustainable offices in the world that offer solutions to challenges such as energy efficiency, automated management or the search for the well-being of their occupants.

Platinum BCN (Barcelona)

The Platinum BCN complex, located in the business heart of Barcelona, has an area of 24,000 m² dedicated to offices that are currently occupied by companies such as WeWork, N26 and Glovo and institutions such as the Municipal Finance Institute of the Barcelona City Council.

The property is in the olympus of sustainability worldwide; reaching the highest score of the Leed Platinum certification awarded by the US Green Building Council. The building has achieved this recognition thanks to -among other things- its level of thermal insulation, its photovoltaic solar field and its geothermal system by thermoactive foundation. These solutions help to reduce energy requirements by more than 40% and allow the energy sources to be 100% renewable.

Its water management model also stands out. In addition to low-consumption faucets, Platinum BCN reuses gray water and is equipped with a rainwater retention system on the roof for irrigation of green areas. In this way, it achieves an overall water saving of 60% and minimizes the use of potable water for irrigation.
